Chitta Katha Lake is an Alpine Lake located in Shounter Valley, Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. It is located at an elevation of 13,500 feet (4,100 m). It is located in Shounter Valley, Azad Kashmir. The place can be thought of as a junction of Neelum, Naran, and Skardu. Trek level is Moderate to Hard. We have done this lake many times. On avg, we will trek 6 to 7 hours a day with stops now and then and covering8 to 9 KM a day.
Chitta Katha is a regional name meaning “White Stream.” The lake is fed by the Chitta Katha stream, which originates from Mount Hari Parbat. The mountain also holds religious significance for Hindu devotees, who associate it with Lord Shiva and the sacred sanctuary of Kailash.
Chitta Katha Lake is reached through a challenging yet breathtaking trek surrounded by lush green landscapes, flowing streams, towering mountains, and spectacular natural scenery. Upon reaching the lake, visitors are rewarded with its crystal-clear water, peaceful surroundings, and enchanting beauty.
The journey begins from Kel, followed by an approximately 20-kilometre jeep track to Domail Bala. This section consists of a rough and adventurous shingle road. From Domail Bala, trekkers continue on foot for approximately 5 kilometres through a scenic green trail to reach the lake.
